An accountability court has taken the decision to suspend the permanent arrest warrants issued against Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, the sons of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, as reported by Flashy News Hub.

Both sons of the PML-N leader filed petitions in the accountability court yesterday, seeking the suspension of arrest warrants in the NAB References Avenfield, Flagship, and Al-Azizia cases.

Representatives Qazi Misbahul Hasan and Rana Irfan Advocate appeared before the court on behalf of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz.

It is worth noting that on July 11, 2018, an accountability court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Hussain and Hassan Nawaz, who were declared absconders in the Avenfield reference case.

Both Hussain and Hassan, presently residing in London, were directed to appear before the accountability court. The court aimed to conclude proceedings related to the Avenfield reference case and other corruption cases.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted a significant reprieve to the PML-N by acquitting former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield reference case.

Case Background:

On July 6, 2018, an accountability court sentenced former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to a total of 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of £8 million after finding him guilty on various charges in the Avenfield reference case. The court also disqualified Sharif from holding public office for a period of 10 years.

Judge Muhammad Bashir sentenced the former premier's daughter, Maryam Nawaz, to seven years of imprisonment and a fine of £2 million, while her husband, Safdar, was handed a one-year jail term.
