JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed that the no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister Imran Khan was initiated under the directives of the former Army Chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman Claims

In an interview aired on a private news channel, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who led the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) responsible for removing Khan, stated that he personally opposed the no-confidence move. However, he explained that if he had refused despite pressure from other parties, it would have been perceived as though he had protected the PTI founder.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman further revealed that while the PPP was spearheading the movement for a no-confidence motion, Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid informed him that he could operate within the system but not outside of it. Despite rejecting Hamid's instructions, Maulana Fazlur Rehman later agreed with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and others who withdrew their support from the PTI-led government, as they claimed to hold the majority.

Regarding the government formation, Maulana Fazlur Rehman disclosed that PML-N's prime minister candidate Shehbaz Sharif visited him, but he declined the proposal and urged the Nawaz-led party to join the opposition. He expressed his belief that the parliament had lost its credibility, and emphasized his preference for the power of the movement, noting that the PPP was leading the no-confidence motion.

Meanwhile, after talks between delegations of PTI and JUI-F, a press conference was held in Islamabad. JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah stated that the party welcomed the PTI delegation led by Asad Qaiser for talks. He mentioned that party chief Fazlur Rehman deemed the meeting "positive" considering the current circumstances. Hamdullah explained that the PTI delegation presented the same case as the JUI-F, regarding the events of the February 8 elections, which the party had already rejected as not representing the national mandate.
